A good weekend for cats it was, or, more specifically, lions !! We got them on both Saturday and Sunday in the river bed at the main Umfolozi bridge in the south of the Park. There were about 6 mature females and at least 3 cubs at various times and they are part of a pride of 13 lions that have seemingly set up residence in the area. Elephant sightings during the weekend were also good but the real highlight of the weekend were the black rhino sightings on both days. This magnificent animal does not reveal himself often so it was a real treat. There were also good buffalo and giraffe sightings over the weekend and at the moment there are more Nyalas around than we’ve seen for a long time. Bird life continues to be scarce.
