EuroZulu Wildlife Diary – Saturday 02 February 2013

Weather: After a wet and cold early morning the weather smiled on us with sunshine and no wind to speak of.

Difficult viewing today with the cold and wet weather early combined with thicker and denser bush cover than I’ve seen for a number of years. We did come across a fair sized elephant breeding herd near marker 25 in the south and towards mid morning a heavily pregnant spotted hyaena was seen on the road near Bhekaphansi Pan. Outstanding birds on show today including rollers, bee eaters, white storks and the southern red bishop.

Umfolozi Big Five sightings: Elephant, Buffalo… and hyaena

Hluhluwe Big Five sightings: Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino.

General Game: Warthog, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe etc.

Till the next sighting!!!
