EuroZulu Wildlife Diary – Tuesday 12 March 2013

Weather: Mild to warm with clouds early but clearing later.

The pattern of tough days with relatively few sightings persists but we just have to work through these times because there’s absolutely nothing we can do about it. General game is still fine but the cats in the south seem to have all but disappeared although there was a report of a lioness with cub near Mpila this morning early. Around the same area we saw a hyena a little later (which probably explains why the lioness sighting was a brief one.) Elephants were also scarce so we were fortunate to have a great big bull chasing us (in reverse gear) for a few hundred meters near the Centenary Centre turn off.

Umfolozi Big Five sightings: Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo… and hyaenas.

Hluhluwe Big Five sightings: Elephant, Buffalo, Rhino.

General Game: Antelope, Warthog, Wildebeest, Zebra, Giraffe etc.

Till the next sighting!!!
