EuroZulu Wildlife Diary – Monday 11 February 2013

Weather: As has been the case for a few days now the temperature today reached around 32 deg. Thankfully there was a stiff breeze to cool things down a little but despite that there was very little game to see after 10h30.

Today’s highlight was a huge male lion strutting up the road towards us near Umganu in the south. There were other lions close by which we could hear but not see. Just a minute or so before the lion sighting we saw a rather nervous looking hyena beating a hasty retreat…. so would I if I had a cat as big as that in the area !!! The rhinos and elephants were also out in force today so all in all it was a good one out there!!!

Umfolozi Big Five sightings: Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo… and hyena.

Hluhluwe Big Five sightings: Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo.

General Game:Warthog, Wildebeest, Giraffe, Baboon, Zebra etc.

Till the next sighting!!!
